The year has taken quite a turn, and all we can do is change and adapt to this new lifestyle. During the lockdown The Adamjee Foundation was able to secure a permit to continue functioning as an essential service providing critical food items to those in need.
The lockdown has resulted in many individuals losing their jobs or having to deal with salary cuts and the Foundation saw increasing requests for food assistance. A list of all those in need was created and a special covid hamper was made to reach as many individuals as possible.
In order to prevent the spread of the virus, other projects had come to a halt, such as the bread distribution. Due to the exposure it posed to vulnerable people it was advised to cease bread distribution until protocols were established to limit risk of spread.
Our country is still in the thick of the crisis and as we pass our peak we expect to see more people struggling as the days go by. We are all in this together and each one of us is facing different unexpected challenges that this year has brought. Apart from health conditions and financial loss, many are suffering emotional and psychological challenges in dealing with everything that is being thrown at them. All we can do is be there for each other and be kind to one another.
